As most of us try to avoid having to feel some headache, it just sometimes happens and all we want is to either get over it or do something about it.. like by sleeping it through, taking some medicines, or enduring it throughout the whole day/night. As I am inclined to natural remedies/healing, I usually just endure it. But as time goes by and as per experience, I accidentally stumbled on some practical activities that somehow alleviate the pain or sometimes take them off immediately.
What we usually do when headache occurs is to rub our forehead part where we feel it or apply some relaxing ointment over it. Well, it really helps you relax temporarily but what if there are options to take where there are chances to make them go away instantly.. if you can why not try right?
NOTE: For this post, of course, I am not a doctor or in any case medically inclined to explain thoroughly the things listed below. I will try to site some scientific/practical reasons behind it as much as I can but that will be it. The majority in this list are already tested which means I personally have experienced them but I will try to add some surprising items along the way which may just work upon researching for this. We have different bodies that react differently too so just making sure this issue is raised.
So let's start?
1. Play your sport or SWEAT it up
One time, I continued to play my sport which is badminton at Katipunan Prime even when my head was already hurting. I just wanted to forget the pain that moment but to my surprise, I already feel well on my way home.
A few things that may affect are the water intake and the temperature of the body. Several remedies suggested with medical reasons behind are hydration and relaxation. Lack of water in the body is one of the reasons headaches occur while another is stress and tension. For some people (which not everyone may understand), playing the sport you enjoy is already a way of relaxation so don't question the persons you may know that rest through playing. It can also come in the form of doing the things you love like lifting weights and doing your favorite hobbies.

2. Take a long HOT bath/shower
Taking a hot bath/shower |
Growing up, I am really not fond of taking showers that much. Wait, it did not sound right (lol). Hmm.. I know people who enjoy showers especially the bathtub experiences way more than I do. But just recently, it became a relaxing therapy of mine as well because it absorbed my headache one time as it got drained along with the hot water. Â
The Japanese hot bath came to mind here because I have known them dipping on hot springs often. I wondered why they like doing it, especially after a stressful workday. And upon searching for answers on the internet, I found out that the temperature of the body takes a big role in this. The warmth relaxes the tensed muscles in the body dulling the sensation of pain (while the cold effect will numb your body if you prefer this). How about a hot bath later then?
3. EAT your favorite meal or snack
Whenever I get my headaches, I usually think that my brain needs to eat as well assuming that it lacks nutrients. So, I usually load up what I crave at that moment or just plain eat anything available (the more nutritious, the better). Sometimes, our headaches are purely signs that our body is already hungry. In some cases, you may be surprised that your headache was already digested with the food you ate. So considering this will help unless you got your headache from eating unhealthy foods or eating too much.. those are different things.
Happy hormones are said to relieve the pain somehow so it can be an indirect treatment for this case. Personally, milk tea played a big big role for me here. Haha!

4. Caffeine up
This one is new to me which they say that caffeine intake helps when you have a headache. The explanation goes like this:
"Before a headache happens, blood vessels tend to enlarge which caffeine does the opposite - thus helping the pain relief somehow." I simplified the version so we can skip the scientific terms and explanations (lol).
Aside from coffee, I have a single soft drink brand on top of my mind that they say is high in caffeine. Coincidence that I usually drink it when I do no.1? Interesting! If you would like to see more, watch the video below.
