What do you do (or plan to do) when you go to Hong Kong? Most people I know associate the country with shopping and food trip, well, that is the usual case most of the time especially for the people who already flies back and forth there. But if it is your first time going, there are some places and activities I suggest not missing.
Disney castle |
1. Hong Kong Disneyland
Of course, first in the list is the "happiest place on earth". Whoever is with you, this place will always bring magic maybe just in different forms on how you'll see it. Enjoy the family-friendly rides, exciting roller-coasters, stunning and colorful parades, to even world-class shows that will brighten up not only your imaginations but as well as your reality. Besides, meeting your childhood heroes or icons you look up to growing up is always exciting, right? Who would not want that?!
walking in Disneyland |
Just make sure you are ready for long walks as the park is humongous and a lot of patience when the queue lines become quite a bit extensive.
I am actually amazed at how consistent they are when it comes to being present even in other countries. Visiting Disneyland Anaheim at Los Angeles, California, everything is carbon copied except for some specialty rides but the rest is the same. You will be going out of the park after with the same experience just like everybody else in the world.

Hollywood hotel (near Disney area)

P.S. I remember waking up here feeling ultra cold the first morning (lol)
Disney train
inside Disney train |
Of course, you cannot miss this Disney train experience. Yes, they have their own train line which is the only way going to and going out of the theme park. It's just so cool once you see and ride it in person because it builds up the excitement that you are near the "happiest place on earth". #sunnybay #sunnybaystation
2. Ocean Park
If Disney is too basic for you, then try Ocean Park. This park is more inclined to the adrenaline junkies out there (like me!) who are very much into heights and are looking for some higher level of excitement.
Ocean Park Hong Kong |
Aside from hundreds of stairs and escalators to traverse (lol), you'll find here heart dropping rides and upside-down looping roller-coasters. But don't worry, there are also family-friendly attractions here like some water animal shows, gigantic aquariums, and one of their highlighted areas which they call the south pole where resident penguins are found.

Cable car ride
Heights it is |
If Disneyland has its own train station, then Ocean park has its own cable car line. You have to ride this because around 60% of the theme park is located on the other side of the land. And on that part is where all the actions happen, by actions I mean the extreme rides. And do note, that part of the land has an overlooking view of the South China Sea. You have to see that. And ride the roller-coaster beside the sea, it's crazy good!
3. Victoria Peak /Â Harbor
Ready for more heights? Hong Kong's landscape is a challenging one, they are steep, mountainous, and near the water which makes it unique. When you combine it with lights, technology, and skyscrapers, this is what makes it.

Victoria peak |
With this scenic view, the area became popular with tourists which led it to grow. Now, a mall is present. here (Victoria mall) where you can do a lot of entertainment too and enjoy its overlooking spectacle. We arrived here around late afternoon where we both enjoyed the light and the night versions. I suggest you come here at those times too.
Well, if you are not a heights person, more or likely you are a sea person. Victoria Harbor got you. The place will relax you with its spacious vicinity combined with the blowing wind and this peaceful sight. If you still want to dig more into this experience, make sure to ride the Star Ferry and indulge in all the relaxing vibe you can get. Well, we certainly did.

4. Madame Taussauds Wax Museum
If you have the paparazzi spirit, this museum is a must! Hold your breath as you will be seeing world-famous Hollywood stars in person. Make your dream selfies and star-studded pictures come true as you'll have all your chances here.

All the wax figures here are life-size so you'll be surely knowing more about your favorite celebrities. They are made so intricately and very detailed that most of them look real especially at your first glance. Well, what more can it do for the pictures? Let these pictures show it all.

ReplyDeleteYeah! Praying that the virus will soon be over.
DeleteI have visited Hong Kong several times and have stayed in one of the Disney hotels too. Your post brought back some good memories.
ReplyDeleteSame! Writing this post makes me miss it! HAHA!
DeleteI would definitely want to visit Victoria Peak, as well as take the cable car ride. The views of Hong Kong from those places are spectacular!

ReplyDeleteThanks Dee!
DeleteMy older daughter visited Hong Kong during her senior year and she had an awesome time and wants me to visit it as well. After reading your post, I am going to put it on my list of places to visit.
ReplyDeleteHurray!
DeleteAwww! We miss HK. We have been posting the trip starting with the riots and now the pandemic. We are dying to see the new castle but I guess we'll just have to wait once the condition is better.
ReplyDeleteWaiting with you! Haha!
DeleteOoh, I'd love to visit the wax museum! The rest some awesome too, but a wax museum is something that's high up on my bucket list, so that stood out to me in particular. I hope I get to visit one someday!
ReplyDeleteYeah. I think that wasn't in our list too but we just visited it on site.
DeleteInteresting, looks like you enjoyed a lot of amusement parks in Hong Kong. I will say that the Cable Car in Ocean Park looks really cool to me! Also, since I love views, that viewing of Victoria Park and the Harbor from the scenic view point looks awesome. Now as for Milk Tea, I guess when in Hong Kong, you must try what the locals try but it doesnt sound good to me!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I guess you are not a milk tea person then, huh Eric? But yeah, so hard to be one and experience a new culture but when you are in it, that is most likely the highlights and the ones you will miss when you leave.
DeleteI went to Hong Kong 3 times in my lifetime and they were all amazing!! I love Victoria Park. I think I need to revisit whenever this Covid has been eradicated from the UK land. lol!
ReplyDeleteHopefully it will end sooooon!
DeleteGreat list. I would actually love to travel there. They always seem to have some of the best attractions in the world. Great post.
ReplyDeleteFun as I spent close to a year in Hong Kong BEFORE Disney arrived but now live in Orlando so no big deal. I'd also add riding the ferry at night is really nice with all the lights
