7 challenging things to do at Phillip's Sanctuary

Are you bored and tired of the usual team building activities you do, and places you go when it's time to wire that corporate teamwork? Are you guys up for something new and want to challenge the group's capability to become better at things you never did before? Well, we got something good for you.

Rope course at Phillip's Sanctuary
One of the rope courses

A few years back, we needed a fresh place to jump-start our church group's spirit and roll it over the year. A number of venues were suggested by friends and families, but one stood out, and as we checked their facilities over the internet and did an ocular visit, it was definitely what we needed. We booked and scheduled our team building for the year here as the excitement builds up inside the church group. From time to time, I post intriguing pictures of the venue in our group chat (like the one above) to thrill them on the upcoming game day. But seriously, who wouldn't be challenged if you see this photo and you know you have to go through this soon.. Man, I suddenly remember the chilling excitement and nervousness at the same time again.

So the place is called Phillip's Sanctuary at Antipolo, yes, Phillip with the double "L". They are actually a multi-events place that caters almost every event you might think of.

They are open for retreats, seminars, workshops, parties, on-location shoots, field trips, etc. The great thing here is that you have a lot of options to do like fishing, camping, swimming, kayaking, rafting, and many more. But they are popularly known for is their wicked facilities for team buildings that include various obstacles and rope courses with a zip line.

Actually, it does not stop there, they still have spaces for bike trails and tree planting activities perfect for that eco-friendly tours which companies, schools, and other private sectors can look into. Did I still miss anything? Haha! So for this blog post, we will tackle the 7 challenging things you and your group can do here that will rock your lazy butts up and get that body movin'.

First, are the rope challenges on land. In here you have to traverse a lot of rope obstacle courses with different guidelines per area. There are ropes that you have to step on, climb on, and hang on to finish. The best time wins. You can also accumulate the time per activity at the end before announcing the overall champs.

Second, are the rope courses above water. This was something new for the group as everyone was doing their best not to fall off the obstacle. Various challenges are present such as a log to rope and rope to ropeways of passing thru. Some take their time going thru with the challenges doing the slowly but surely a way of coping with the situation, but there are a few that crossed it with impressive times.

After that rope course above water, waiting at the end of it is the zip line ride. Nothing much really (lol!), you are just going to zip your way through the obstacle course by sliding on a piece of rope, and yes, still above the water. Well, this picture below, it can say it all really.

The next you have to cross is the rope to rope obstacle in the water. The group really had a lot of fun here as per our experience, the competition was neck to neck here. As group A was leading ahead of the other, Group B leveled up their game and manages to finish it with a close time VS Group A. Now we have a fight! Haha!.

Well, this one challenges me the most. The "cross that log" hustle. You have to cross the log from one side to another just by freely balancing your way through. Now it's getting serious. The catch here is that one of the logs in here is not stable so it's important that you choose the correct log. I still remember that when I crossed this log, there was a moment that I already said to myself that "this is it!, I will fall!" But thank God I managed to regain balance in time and crossed it without getting wet. Yes! We can already call it a day guys. Haha!

If you are not yet tired, you can also do the water raft relay/racing activity. Well, for us, we let the girls on each team compete on this while the boys do the next and the last part of the obstacle.

The last obstacle we had is the mud obstacle relay. So after carefully traversing all of those hurdles without getting dirty, no you cannot finish without getting it. Man, I felt betrayed for this like a coup haha! My personal mission was to get home with the same clean clothes I was wearing but because of this.. I got so dirty enough to make others dirtier. Can you just imagine all that dirt!? (lol!) Fun and great times though.

I cannot stop going back to this photo as the mud in there was like 2 to 3-feet deep. Some of us did not believe that and they went there unexpectedly swimming - head below it! Oohhh lala! It was soo funny but at the same time made all of us think it over if we would really do it. Haha!

By the way, we also did the super loooong slide. We had so much fun doing it that no one took a single photo/video of us doing it. Haha! It was that good!

Wet but had fun

Overall, it was a great day for us to enjoy the place and appreciate the view there. The sanctuary is heavily surrounded by trees and the area is quite spacious so you'll feel relaxed. They even had a wonderful pool there which was very tempting to dip into. The place is just easy to love as it embraces nature with plans to sustain everything with it until it can. And to prove that, they even have actual farms behind the sanctuary that produces crops. So grateful to know.

We ended the activity with a group discussion and a prayer for safety on going back to the city. It was so nice seeing all of us enjoy the company of each other and laugh with all the things we did there. It was quite a memorable trip for the group. We hope to come back again and experience the other facilities they have. But I am quite sure that when that time comes, there will be more new things to enjoy there. We are all looking forward to that time.
